Hearing Beyond the Noise

'Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.'

Just as frequencies exist beyond our hearing range, God's voice often speaks beneath the noise of our daily lives. Bartimaeus couldn't see, but he could hear—and he heard the one thing that mattered: Jesus was passing by.

In our world of constant notifications, breaking news, and endless opinions, we must develop spiritual ears. What distractions drown out God's voice in your life? Today, intentionally create moments of silence.

​Turn off your phone, step away from screens, and listen. God is still speaking. Your inability to hear Him doesn't mean He's silent—it means you need to tune out the noise and tune in to His presence.

​Escuchar más allá del ruido

'Después llegaron a Jericó. Más tarde, salió Jesús de la ciudad acompañado de sus discípulos y de una gran multitud. Un mendigo ciego llamado Bartimeo (el hijo de Timeo) estaba sentado junto al camino. Al oír que el que venía era Jesús de Nazaret, se puso a gritar: ―¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí! Muchos lo reprendían para que se callara, pero él se puso a gritar aún más fuerte: ―¡Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí! Jesús se detuvo y dijo: ―Llámenlo. Así que llamaron al ciego. ―¡Ánimo! —le dijeron—. ¡Levántate! Te llama. Él, arrojando la capa, dio un salto y se acercó a Jesús. ―¿Qué quieres que haga por ti? —le preguntó. ―Raboni, quiero ver —respondió el ciego. ―Puedes irte —le dijo Jesús—, tu fe te ha sanado. Al instante recobró la vista y comenzó a seguir a Jesús por el camino.'

​Así como existen frecuencias más allá de nuestro rango auditivo, la voz de Dios a menudo habla por debajo del ruido de nuestra vida diaria. Bartimeo no podía ver, pero podía oír, y escuchó la única cosa que importaba: Jesús estaba pasando.

En nuestro mundo de notificaciones constantes, noticias de última hora y opiniones interminables, debemos desarrollar oídos espirituales. ¿Qué distracciones ahogan la voz de Dios en tu vida? Hoy, crea intencionalmente momentos de silencio.

Apaga tu teléfono, aléjate de las pantallas y escucha. Dios todavía está hablando. Tu incapacidad para escucharlo no significa que Él esté en silencio; significa que necesitas desconectarte del ruido y sintonizar Su presencia.
