The Sabbath Was Made for You

23 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24 The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

25 He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”

27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

God never intended the Sabbath to become another burden on your shoulders. In His wisdom, He created rest as a gift, not a requirement to earn His favor. The religious leaders missed this beautiful truth, transforming God's blessing into exhausting legalism.

​Today, examine your spiritual life honestly. Have you turned relationship with God into a checklist? Are you exhausted trying to earn what Christ already purchased for you? Jesus declares Himself Lord of the Sabbath—meaning He is your rest. Stop performing and start receiving. The God who created you knows you need rest, renewal, and grace. He offers all three freely.

El día de reposo fue hecho para ti

23 Un sábado, al cruzar Jesús los sembrados, sus discípulos comenzaron a arrancar a su paso unas espigas de trigo.

24 —Mira—le preguntaron los fariseos—, ¿por qué hacen ellos lo que está prohibido hacer en sábado?

25 Él les contestó:

Dios nunca tuvo la intención de que el día de reposo se convirtiera en otra carga sobre tus hombros. En Su sabiduría, Él creó el descanso como un regalo, no como un requisito para ganarse Su favor. Los líderes religiosos se perdieron esta hermosa verdad, transformando la bendición de Dios en un legalismo agotador.

​Hoy, examina tu vida espiritual con honestidad. ¿Has convertido tu relación con Dios en una lista de tareas pendientes? ¿Estás exhausto tratando de ganar lo que Cristo ya compró para ti? Jesús se declara a sí mismo Señor del día de reposo, lo que significa que Él es tu descanso. Deja de actuar para complacer y empieza a recibir. El Dios que te creó sabe que necesitas descanso, renovación y gracia. Él ofrece las tres cosas gratuitamente.
