Beyond Surface Solutions

'A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” '

When four friends lowered their paralyzed companion through a roof to reach Jesus, they expected physical healing. Instead, Jesus addressed the deeper need: "Your sins are forgiven." How often do we approach God focused only on our immediate problems while ignoring our spiritual condition? Like a mechanic who discovers issues beneath the surface, Jesus sees beyond our presenting symptoms to our heart's true need. Today, before listing your prayer requests, pause and ask: "Lord, what do I really need?" Sometimes our greatest miracle isn't getting what we want, but receiving what our soul truly requires—forgiveness, restoration, and right standing with God. Are you willing to let Jesus address your deepest need first?

Más allá de las soluciones superficiales

'Unos días después, cuando Jesús entró de nuevo en Capernaúm, corrió la voz de que estaba en casa. Se aglomeraron tantos que ya no quedaba sitio ni siquiera frente a la puerta, mientras él les predicaba. Entonces llegaron cuatro hombres que le llevaban un paralítico. Como no podían acercarlo a Jesús por causa de la multitud, quitaron parte del techo encima de donde estaba Jesús y, luego de hacer una abertura, bajaron la camilla en la que estaba acostado el paralítico. Al ver la fe de ellos, Jesús le dijo al paralítico: ―¡Hijo, tus pecados quedan perdonados! Algunos maestros de la Ley estaban sentados allí y pensaban: «¿Por qué habla este así? ¡Está blasfemando! ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados sino solo Dios?».En ese mismo instante supo Jesús en su espíritu que esto era lo que estaban pensando. ―¿Por qué razonan así? —les dijo—. ¿Qué es más fácil, decirle al paralítico: “Tus pecados quedan perdonados” o decirle: “Levántate, toma tu camilla y anda”? Pues, para que sepan que el Hijo del hombre tiene autoridad en la tierra para perdonar pecados —se dirigió entonces al paralítico—: a ti te digo, levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa. Y el hombre se levantó, tomó su camilla enseguida y salió caminando a la vista de todos. Ellos se quedaron asombrados y comenzaron a alabar a Dios. ―Jamás habíamos visto cosa igual —decían. '

Cuando cuatro amigos bajaron a su compañero paralítico a través de un techo para llegar a Jesús, esperaban una sanidad física. En su lugar, Jesús abordó la necesidad más profunda: "Tus pecados te son perdonados". ¿Con qué frecuencia nos acercamos a Dios enfocados solo en nuestros problemas inmediatos mientras ignoramos nuestra condición espiritual? Al igual que un mecánico que descubre problemas debajo de la superficie, Jesús ve más allá de nuestros síntomas visibles para identificar la verdadera necesidad de nuestro corazón. Hoy, antes de enumerar tus peticiones de oración, haz una pausa y pregunta: "Señor, ¿qué es lo que realmente necesito?". A veces, nuestro mayor milagro no es obtener lo que queremos, sino recibir lo que nuestra alma verdaderamente requiere: perdón, restauración y una posición justa ante Dios. ¿Estás dispuesto a dejar que Jesús aborde tu necesidad más profunda primero?
