Rocked, But Never Sunk

'God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. '
- Psalms 46:1

When we step out of darkness and into the light of Christ, we enter a spiritual battleground. Opposition, temptations, and trials will come. Following Jesus is not a golden ticket to a trouble-free life. Your boat will get rocked. The waves will break over the sides, and things might look incredibly bleak for a season.

However, there is a massive difference between a boat that is being rocked and a boat that is sinking. Before they ever left the shore, Jesus gave the final destination: "Let us go over to the other side." He didn’t say, "Let's go out to the middle of the lake and drown." Because Christ is with you, your arrival at the other side is guaranteed.

The storm may toss you around, but it does not have the authority to destroy you. How does remembering Jesus' promise to get you to "the other side" change the way you view the waves hitting you today?

​Cuando salimos de la oscuridad y entramos en la luz de Cristo, ingresamos a un campo de batalla espiritual. La oposición, las tentaciones y las pruebas vendrán. Seguir a Jesús no es un boleto de oro para una vida libre de problemas. Tu barca se va a sacudir. Las olas romperán sobre los costados y las cosas podrían verse increíblemente sombrías por una temporada.

Sin embargo, hay una diferencia enorme entre una barca que está siendo sacudida y una barca que se está hundiendo. Antes de que salieran de la orilla, Jesús dio el destino final: «Crucemos al otro lado». Él no dijo: «Vamos al medio del lago a ahogarnos». Debido a que Cristo está contigo, tu llegada al otro lado está garantizada.

​La tormenta puede sacudirte de un lado a otro, pero no tiene la autoridad para destruirte. ¿Cómo cambia tu forma de ver las olas que te golpean hoy el recordar la promesa de Jesús de llevarte «al otro lado»?
