Above the Noise (Day 1)

Created in His Image

'Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.'

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. '

Before the world tells you who you should be, God declares who you already are. You were created in the image of the Almighty, bearing His divine imprint. Your value doesn't fluctuate with your accomplishments, bank account, or social status. When culture screams for you to create your own identity, remember that your Creator has already defined you with infinite worth. Today, reject the lies that measure your value by worldly standards. Instead, stand firm in this truth: you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the God of the universe. Your identity crisis ends when you embrace whose image you bear.

'Luego dijo Dios: «Hagamos al ser humano a nuestra imagen y semejanza. Que tenga dominio sobre los peces del mar y sobre las aves del cielo; sobre los animales domésticos, sobre los animales salvajes y sobre todos los animales que se arrastran por el suelo». Y Dios creó al ser humano a su imagen; lo creó a imagen de Dios; hombre y mujer los creó. Y Dios los bendijo con estas palabras: «¡Sean fructíferos y multiplíquense; llenen la tierra y sométanla; dominen a los peces del mar y a las aves del cielo y a todos los animales que se arrastran por el suelo!». Antes de que el mundo te diga quién debes ser, Dios declara quién ya eres. Fuiste creado a la imagen del Omnipotente, llevando Su impronta divina. Tu valor no fluctúa con tus logros, tu cuenta bancaria o tu estatus social. Cuando la cultura grite para que crees tu propia identidad, recuerda que tu Creador ya te ha definido con un valor infinito. Hoy, rechaza las mentiras que miden tu valor según los estándares mundanos. En su lugar, mantente firme en esta verdad: estás hecho de forma formidable y maravillosa por el Dios del universo. Tu crisis de identidad termina cuando aceptas de quién es la imagen que llevas. ¿Qué medidas mundanas has permitido que definan tu valor? ¿Cómo cambia tu perspectiva hoy el saber que fuiste hecho a la imagen de Dios?
