23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Ancient rabbis taught disciples by having them follow so closely that the dust from their teacher's feet would cover their clothes. Jesus didn't hand out textbooks or syllabi—He said, "Follow me." Discipleship isn't about accumulating more information; it's about transformation through proximity. How closely are you walking behind Jesus? Are you near enough that His lifestyle, His priorities, His compassion are rubbing off on you? Following Jesus means observing how He lived, how He loved the marginalized, how He prioritized prayer, how He responded to criticism. It's not enough to study His teachings from a distance. Today, ask yourself: If someone examined my life, would they see evidence of walking closely behind Jesus? What dust from His footsteps clings to my daily choices? Commit to one specific way you'll follow His example more closely this week.

Los antiguos rabinos enseñaban a sus discípulos pidiéndoles que los siguieran tan de cerca que el polvo de los pies del maestro cubriera sus ropas. Jesús no entregó libros de texto ni programas de estudio; dijo: «Sígueme». El discipulado no consiste en acumular más información, sino en la transformación a través de la cercanía. ¿Qué tan cerca estás caminando detrás de Jesús? ¿Estás lo suficientemente cerca como para que su estilo de vida, sus prioridades y su compasión se te peguen? Seguir a Jesús significa observar cómo vivió, cómo amó a los marginados, cómo priorizó la oración y cómo respondió a las críticas. No basta con estudiar sus enseñanzas a la distancia. Hoy, pregúntate: Si alguien examinara mi vida, ¿vería evidencia de que camino muy cerca de Jesús? ¿Qué polvo de sus pisadas se adhiere a mis decisiones diarias? Comprométete con una forma específica en la que seguirás su ejemplo más de cerca esta semana.
