 Day 4: Empowered by the Spirit Reading: John 14:15-27 ' “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. ' Acts 2:1-4 'When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. ' Devotional: Jesus promised His disciples that He would not leave them as orphans, but would send the Holy Spirit to empower them. This same Spirit is available to us today, providing the strength and courage we need to live out our faith. Consider areas in your life where you feel weak or inadequate. How might you invite the Holy Spirit to work more powerfully in those areas? Ask God to fill you afresh with His Spirit, enabling you to live a life that boldly proclaims the gospel through both words and actions. Español

Y yo pediré al Padre y él les dará otro Consolador para que los acompañe siempre: el Espíritu de verdad, a quien el mundo no puede aceptar porque no lo ve ni lo conoce. Pero ustedes sí lo conocen, porque vive con ustedes y estará en ustedes. No los voy a dejar huérfanos; volveré a ustedes. Dentro de poco el mundo ya no me verá más, pero ustedes sí me verán. Y porque yo vivo, también ustedes vivirán. En aquel día ustedes se darán cuenta de que yo estoy en mi Padre, ustedes en mí y yo en ustedes. ¿Quién es el que me ama? Yo no se la doy a ustedes como la da el mundo. No se angustien ni se acobarden. ' Hechos 2:1-4 'Cuando llegó el día de Pentecostés, estaban todos juntos en el mismo lugar. De repente, vino del cielo un ruido como el de una violenta ráfaga de viento y llenó toda la casa donde estaban reunidos. Aparecieron entonces unas lenguas como de fuego que se repartieron y se posaron sobre cada uno de ellos. Todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo y comenzaron a hablar en diferentes lenguas, según el Espíritu les concedía expresarse. ' Devocional: Jesús les prometió a Sus discípulos que no los dejaría huérfanos, sino que enviaría al Espíritu Santo para fortalecerlos. Este mismo Espíritu está disponible para nosotros hoy, proveyendo la fuerza y el valor que necesitamos para vivir nuestra fe. Considera áreas en tu vida donde te sientes débil o inadecuado. ¿Cómo podrías invitar al Espíritu Santo a obrar con más poder en esas áreas? Pídele a Dios que te llene de nuevo con Su Espíritu, capacitándote para vivir una vida que proclame valientemente el evangelio tanto con palabras como con acciones. |
