Reading: Matthew 7:21-23, 1 Corinthians 13:9-12
' “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ ' -Matthew 7:21-23 'For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. ' -1 Corinthians 13:9-12 Knowing about God is not the same as truly knowing Him. Today's passages challenge us to move beyond surface-level faith to a deep, transformative relationship with God. It's not enough to simply claim Christ or perform religious acts; we must align our hearts and actions with God's will. Examine your faith journey - are there areas where you've been 'playing pretend' rather than authentically following Jesus? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any disconnects between your professed faith and your daily life. Commit to pursuing a genuine, intimate relationship with God that goes beyond mere knowledge to true communion. ^PJ |
