Following a lifetime journey of transformation
Be still, and know that I am God--Psalms 46:10
This passage took a new meaning for me this past week. While doing some research for Sunday's message I ran into a quote from a Chinese church leader, who spent 23 years in prison. He said this to Christians who did not face persecution:
“I was pushed into a cell, but you have to push yourself into one. You have no time to know God. You need to build yourself a cell, so you can do for yourself what persecution did for me—simplify your life and know God.”
I don't want to be too busy that I don't have time to be alone with God, I want to pursue Him, I want to seek Him. Prayer always came before every revival, even at the Pentecost they were praying before the Holy Spirit came. I want to move, but not move without Him. Lord I need you!
Martin Luther once confessed: "If I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory through the day. I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer."
I believe I have tried many times on my own, and I am tired, weary, I give up. I will be still, build myself a cell, and simplify my life; prayer.
