Following a lifetime journey of transformation
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
I can't believe summer is almost over, sorry to bring you the news! hehehe Hopefully you had time to rest and refuel to tackle what's ahead. If you are like me, sometimes it is just hard to rest, we tend to elevate busyness as something good and acceptable.
We long to rest but somewhere along the way we believe that rest is found in a dream vacation or something else like shopping or buying that thing you have been saving for--an external solution to the rest we need.
But rest comes from within, our external solutions are just a reflection of our internal needs. Only God can help us find that internal rest we long for. God sent Jesus to give us what we really need. He is the source of the deep rest we all need. He has come to completely change the way we rest. The one-day-a-week rest we take or should take is only a taste of the deep divine rest we need, and Jesus is its source.
On the cross Jesus experienced the restlessness of separation from God so that we can have the deep rest of knowing that he loves us and our sins have been forgiven. You are loved by God, and Jesus wants to give you rest.
Are you tired today, weary, dissatisfied. Rest on the assurance of God’s love demonstrated in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
